Professor Curtis Eckerman from ACC connected me with Dr. Rodney Rohde and that connection ensured my transfer to Texas State and the start of my CLS journey.

I am proud that I was able to transfer to a school where I could feel welcomed. I was able to make connections through my Fraternity and through being on the Fraternity and Sorority Life Programming Board.

With the support of my children and my family, I have accomplished more these past two years than I ever have. I am proud of the mother and student I am today and the future social worker I aspire to be.

No matter what your daily struggles are, never give up. If you have a vision of going to this University, use your voice, advocate for yourself, and ask questions if you do not know.

Andrew

I have accomplished knowing where I can find help when I need it the most. I am proud of myself for making it here and looking forward to the future.

I made the Dean's List Spring '22 for the College of Applied Arts and was nominated into the National Society of Leadership and Success. The Veterans Alliance at Texas State assisted with my transition.

Prof. Paul Davis truly made me feel like I could make it, no matter the stress or the times I spent reconsidering if I made the right choice, he always made me believe I was meant to be a student here.

Danielle

I’m proud of myself that I was able to make some new friends, and that I didn’t let myself give up when it came to my grades and harder classes such as chemistry.

Sandra

Sandra, Management '23

My advice is to get to know as many peers as you can to make your time here a more pleasant experience but to never give up even if you’re the odd one out.

I am a 27 year old non-traditional student. Since transferring to Texas State from ACC, I received dean’s list for the first time for the semester of spring 2022.

Tanner

At Texas State I have learned the value of channeling my strengths and acknowledging my weaknesses. I’m proud of finishing two Public Speaking courses and finding confidence to be more expressive.

Some advice I would give to other transfer students is use all the available resources you are given. From advisors to free tutoring and the health center.

Audrey, Mass Communications '24

I know it seems really hard and scary but you belong. Get yourself out there and I promise you won’t regret it, everything is worth a try.

Being a full time student and being a full time worker is hard but I’m doing it and that has been the biggest challenge I am overcoming.

María

I’m proud of myself simply because I was able to transfer to TXST.

Belle

I commute from San Antonio to TXST, but even though the drive is really far, I gladly make the drive. I genuinely enjoy TXST, so I want to be there, even if the drive is long.

Ainsley

Ainsley, History '24

I was nervous about being a transfer, especially having transferred halfway through my degree. I can confidently say that I am no longer nervous and I know that I made the right decision for myself.

Gabriella

My professors and my friends helped me make this transfer easier. My friends were able to show me all around campus, and my advisors were able to inform me of all the resources I have available to me!
