Faculty Texas State Transfer Champions

Jaymeen Shah

Jaymeen Shah, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at Texas State University, was nominated by a transfer student.

“I am nominating professor Jaymeen Shah for his great personality. He is great individual I have come across. He takes care of every single thing about students who reach out to him for any kind of help. He is always available to solve students queries and problems," said Nandini Akula. "He is one of a kind of professor.”

Wayne Kramer

Wayne Kraemer, director of Forensics at Texas State University and senior lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies, was nominated by a transfer student.

“Professor Kraemer does everything he can to provide meaningful resources for his students. He also is not afraid and is incredibly willing to stick up and fight for students when it is needed,” said Callum Ritter. “As director of the LBJ Debate Society, an organization that I along with many other transfer students are incredibly proud to be a part of, Professor Kraemer has created one of the most transfer-friendly Forensics Programs in the country helping to make Texas State truly feel like a home.”

Staff Texas State Transfer Champions

Juan Soto

Juan Soto, director of Veterans Upward Bound at Texas State University, was nominated by multiple students.

“Juan Soto has made a positive impact on my experience and the connections that I’ve made at Texas state. I have a wonderful veteran support system because of him. He helped me get approved for the [Veteran Readiness and Employment] program. It’s going to change my life,” said Zulma Matute. “I would never have known about these resources or opportunities without his help.”

Julie Anne Carroll, administrative assistant III in the School of Health Administration at Texas State University, was also nominated.

“Julie has made transferring to Texas State a breeze. Every question I had she answered. If she didn’t have the answer, she would always make sure I knew where to go to find it. She’s always quick to respond and in a helpful matter," said Sabrina Odell Alford. “I’m so glad she was the first person I came into contact with at Texas State!”

National Transfer Student Week at Texas State is a Transfer Center initiative. The Transfer Center is an activity of the Generación STEM grant, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM and Articulation Program.
