Bio

Agustín García is a first-generation student who joined Texas State University in 2008 and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology in 2013. Afterward, he pursued an M.S. in Kinesiology with a Sports and Exercise Psychology specialization at the University of North Texas. After graduating in 2015, he returned to Texas State University as an Academic Advisor I for the College of Education Advising Center. Subsequently, he was accepted to the Doctoral Program in Developmental Education in 2019. In 2021, Agustín began his role as Student Development Specialist I, serving pre-service teaching transfer students. He is currently a Transfer Navigator in the Transfer Center, and although he can assist all students, he specializes in transfer planning for STEM majors.

As a first-generation graduate, Agustín is passionate about helping all students achieve their educational and professional goals. His research interests center on investigating the psychological and sociocultural factors influencing the academic achievement of collegiate athletes, first-generation, Latinx, and transfer students in college and university settings.
